MeetNotes is now in Slack. Add it once, and the minutes of every meeting you record arrive as a Slack message from MeetNotes: a short summary, the to-dos with who and by when, and the PDF. One tap on Share to a channel posts the summary to your team.
Why Slack
If your team lives in Slack, that is where the follow-up happens. But the notes from a meeting usually sit somewhere else: in an app, in an email, in someone's notebook. Somebody has to copy them over, and often nobody does.
Now the notes come to Slack on their own. You read them where you already work, and sharing them with the team is one tap instead of a copy-paste.
How to start (about two minutes)
- Add it to Slack. Open getmeetnotes.com/slack and tap Add to Slack, then Allow. If your workspace only lets admins add apps, Slack sends your admin a request.
- Connect your MeetNotes account once. MeetNotes sends you a message in Slack with a Connect button. Tap it and sign in with your MeetNotes account.
- Record a meeting as usual. In the room with the MeetNotes app on your phone, with the notetaker in a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams call, or by sending a recording to MeetNotes in Slack.
New to MeetNotes? Get the app first. Every account starts with free minutes.
What you get after every meeting
When the minutes are ready, MeetNotes sends you a direct message in Slack:
- the meeting title and a short summary
- the action items, with who owns them
- the PDF of the full minutes, ready to forward
- a Share to a channel button
Only you see this message. Nothing goes to a channel unless you share it.
Share to a channel
Tap Share to a channel, pick the channel, and tap Share. MeetNotes posts the summary, the decisions and the open to-dos, with "Shared by" and your name.
The recording, the transcript and the PDF stay with you. The team sees what you chose to share, nothing more.
For a private channel, invite MeetNotes first: open the channel and type /invite @MeetNotes. Public channels work straight away.
Send a recording in Slack
Got a recording on your laptop, or one a colleague dropped in a chat? Open your direct message with MeetNotes and send it the audio or video file. MeetNotes replies that it has it, and sends the minutes back in the same chat when they are ready.
Ask about your meetings
Type these anywhere in Slack. The answer only shows to you.
- /meetnotes todo: your open to-dos from every meeting
- /meetnotes last: the minutes of your latest meeting
- /meetnotes ask what did we agree on pricing?: an answer from what was actually said
- /meetnotes notetaker and a Zoom, Meet or Teams link: the notetaker joins that call
- /meetnotes help: everything it can do
You can also mention @MeetNotes in a channel with a question. The answer comes to you in a direct message, never in the channel, because it is about your own meetings.
Turn it off or on
Do not want a message after every meeting? Type /meetnotes stop. Type /meetnotes start to turn it back on. You can still ask questions and send recordings either way.
To remove MeetNotes completely, remove the app from your Slack workspace. It stops at once.
What never goes to Slack
- Self notes, your private notes to yourself
- meetings that are waiting for minutes to be added
Common questions
Does everyone in my team need MeetNotes? No. Only the person who records needs a MeetNotes account. Teammates read what you share in the channel.
Is it free to add? Yes. Adding MeetNotes to Slack is free. Recordings use your MeetNotes minutes, the same as in the app.
Does it record Slack huddles? No. MeetNotes records meetings with the phone app or the notetaker, and sends the minutes to Slack.
