Google Meet note taker

A note taker
for Google Meet,
on any plan

To get notes and a transcript from a Google Meet call, paste the Meet link into the MeetNotes app or add notes@getmeetnotes.com to the invite you organise. The MeetNotes Notetaker joins the call as a visible participant, the host lets it in from the lobby, and it records. When the call ends you get a transcript with speaker names, the minutes, and action items with owners, as a PDF or Word file anyone can open. It works whatever Google plan the organiser is on, and the same app records meetings held in a room.

For: Anyone whose meetings run on Google Meet, especially calls with clients and partners outside the company, calls that switch language, and teams that also meet in person

How it works

Send the note taker into a Meet call

1

Send it

Paste the Google Meet link into the MeetNotes app, or add notes@getmeetnotes.com as a guest on a meeting you organise. You can also ask ChatGPT to send it once MeetNotes is connected there.

2

Let it in

It joins as a visible participant named MeetNotes Notetaker. Like any guest from outside the meeting, the host admits it from the lobby. If it is waiting there, your phone gets a notification.

3

It records

It records the call whether you joined from a laptop, from your phone, or not at all, and leaves on its own shortly after everyone else has.

4

The notes arrive

When the call ends you get the transcript with speaker names, the minutes and the action items, in the app, by email and at getmeetnotes.com/app.

It only goes to calls you send it to. Recording uses the minutes on your account. The same steps for Zoom and Teams: transcribing Zoom, Meet and Teams.

After the call

What you get from a Google Meet call

A transcript with speaker names

Who said what, with timestamps. Name a voice once and it is recognised in later meetings.

Minutes you can send

Summary, decisions and key takeaways, as a PDF or an editable Word file. The people you send them to need no account and no Drive permission.

Action items with owners

Each to-do carries the person who took it on, and a due date when one was said.

Calls that switch language

No language to set before the call. A sentence that starts in Hindi and ends in English is transcribed as spoken, and the minutes can be written in any of 110 languages.

Honestly

When Google's own notes are enough

If your company is on a Workspace edition that includes transcripts and notes, your calls are in one of those eight languages, and the notes only need to reach colleagues inside your Drive, Google's built-in note-taking is already switched on and costs nothing extra. MeetNotes is for the calls that fall outside that: a personal Google account or a plan without the feature, a client who should get the minutes as a file tonight, a call that moves between Hindi and English, and the meetings that happen in a room instead of on Meet.

Not only Meet

Meet calls and the meeting room, in one place

Most weeks mix both. The phone app records a meeting around a table with no bot and no device, and the note taker handles Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Every meeting lands in the same list, with the same search and the same to-dos. More on the room: recording in-person meetings. More on calls and rooms together: AI note taker.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I get a transcript of a Google Meet call?

Two ways. Google Meet has its own transcripts on some Workspace editions, saved to the organiser's Drive. Or send the MeetNotes Notetaker: paste the Meet link into the MeetNotes app, and when the call ends you get a transcript with speaker names plus the minutes, whatever plan the organiser is on.

Is there a note taker for Google Meet?

Yes. The MeetNotes Notetaker joins a Google Meet call as a visible participant, records it, and sends the transcript, minutes and action items when the call ends. Paste the link in the app, or add notes@getmeetnotes.com to an invite you organise.

Will the people on the call see it?

Yes. It joins as a participant named MeetNotes Notetaker and shows in the participant list. The host admits it from the lobby, like any other guest. Tell people you are recording.

Do I need a paid Google Workspace plan?

No. MeetNotes does not depend on the organiser's Google plan: it joins the call as a guest, so it works as long as the meeting lets guests from outside in. Google's own transcripts and notes are the features that depend on the Workspace edition.

Does it join every meeting on my calendar?

No. It only joins calls you send it to: a link you paste into the app, or a meeting you organise with notes@getmeetnotes.com on the invite.

Do I have to stay on the call?

No. It records whether you joined from a laptop, from your phone, or not at all, and leaves on its own after everyone else has left.

Can it take notes when the call is in Hindi or Hinglish?

Yes. You do not set a language before the call, and sentences that switch between Hindi and English are transcribed as spoken. The minutes can be written in any of 110 languages.

Is it free?

Every account starts with 100 minutes of recording included. After that there are monthly plans in the app, and minute packs that never expire.
