Sermon Notes App: Record the Sermon or Talk on Your Phone and Share the Notes

2 Nov 2026

To turn a sermon or religious talk into notes, record it on a phone with MeetNotes. When it ends, you get the main points in the order they were preached, the readings and references the speaker named, any announcements, and a full transcript with each speaker labelled. Share it with the congregation as a PDF, an editable Word file or a WhatsApp message.

It works the same for a Sunday sermon, a homily, a Friday khutbah, a Bible study, a satsang or a youth talk, and in the language it was given.

How to do it, step by step

  1. Install MeetNotes on your phone (Android, iPhone or Mac) and sign in. Every account starts with 100 free minutes.
  2. Make a sermon format once. Tap your picture, then Your profession & format, My formats, New format, Type the headings. For example: Readings and references, Main points, Stories and illustrations, Application for this week, Prayer requests, Announcements. Every recording after that comes back under those headings (choosing a format).
  3. Place the phone close to the speaker, on the pulpit, lectern or a front-row seat, away from the loudspeakers' echo if you can. A phone at the back of a large hall hears the room more than the voice (where to put the phone).
  4. Tap Record meeting when the sermon starts and Stop when it ends. If a service runs long, keep MeetNotes on screen.
  5. Check the notes before you send them. Tap any line of the transcript to hear that moment. Correct a name or a word once and it is corrected everywhere. MeetNotes is built to write down what was said, not to add teaching of its own, so read the notes once before they go out.

Already have a recording, from a livestream or a sound desk? Upload the audio or video file instead (how).

Sharing with the congregation

  • WhatsApp: send the notes to the church or community group as a message, or as a PDF (how).
  • PDF with your letterhead: add your church or centre's name and logo once, and every PDF carries it (how).
  • Word: an editable file to tidy up for a newsletter or a website.
  • Another language: a sermon given in Spanish can be shared with notes in English, or the other way round (reading notes in another language).

Sermons in any language

There is no language to set before recording. Sermons in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Hindi, Swahili or English, or ones that move between two languages, are written down as spoken, and you choose the language of the notes. Less widely spoken languages work with variable accuracy, so test a short recording first. More in transcription in any language.

Church council, parish and committee meetings

The same app writes the minutes of your church council, parish committee, mosque committee or temple trust meeting: the points raised, the decisions taken and the action items with who does what. Download them as a Word file for your records. See the meeting minutes template for a standard layout.

FAQ

Is there an app that turns a sermon recording into notes?

Yes. Record the sermon on your phone with MeetNotes, or upload a recording, and it returns the main points, the readings and references named, any announcements and a full transcript.

Can I share sermon notes on WhatsApp?

Yes. Tap Share and send the notes to a group as a message or as a PDF.

Does it work for sermons in Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic?

Yes. The language is detected automatically, mixed-language talks are supported, and the notes can be written in the language you choose.

Will it add its own interpretation to the sermon?

It is built not to: the notes record what the speaker said. Read them before you share them, and correct anything that was misheard.

Can it also write the minutes of our church council meeting?

Yes. Record the meeting in the room and you get the decisions and action items with owners, as a PDF or Word file.
