ChatGPT cannot join a video call by itself. With the MeetNotes app connected, it can send a notetaker for you. Paste a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams link into ChatGPT and say "Use MeetNotes to record this call". The MeetNotes Notetaker joins as a visible participant, records until the call ends, and then you get the minutes: a transcript with speaker names, a summary, decisions and action items with owners. After that you can ask ChatGPT about the meeting in the same chat.
Setup is one click: open MeetNotes in ChatGPT, click Connect and sign in. The full walkthrough is in meeting notes in ChatGPT.
Step by step
- Connect MeetNotes in ChatGPT (once). Search MeetNotes in ChatGPT's apps, or use the link above.
- Copy the meeting link from your calendar invite. The whole invite text works too. MeetNotes finds the link in it.
- Ask ChatGPT: "Use MeetNotes to send the notetaker to this call" and paste the link.
- For a later meeting, add the time: "…at 3 pm today". You can book it up to 7 days ahead.
- Admit the notetaker. It joins as "MeetNotes Notetaker". If the call has a waiting room, the host has to let it in.
- After the call, ask for the minutes: "Show me the minutes of that call" or "What action items came out of it?"
The notetaker stays until the call ends. To make it leave early or cancel a booking, use the MeetNotes app.
What to ask once the minutes are ready
- "What did we decide, and who owns each next step?"
- "Write a follow-up email to the client from these minutes."
- "What exactly did the client say about the deadline? Quote them."
- "Give me the minutes as a Word file."
- "Compare this call with last week's call on the same project."

Why not just ask ChatGPT to summarise a recording?
You can attach an audio file to ChatGPT and ask for a summary. For a long call that route is slow: you have to record the call yourself first, the file can be too big, and speakers often come out as "Speaker 1" and "Speaker 2". We compared the options in can ChatGPT transcribe audio for free?
With the notetaker, you do not record anything yourself. The minutes are kept in your MeetNotes account, so next month you can still ask "when did the client first ask for this change?" and ChatGPT searches all your meetings.
For meetings in a room
The notetaker is for online calls. For a meeting around a table, a site visit or a client visit, record with the MeetNotes app on your phone, your Apple Watch or your Mac. Those recordings show up in ChatGPT the same way.

Does the notetaker use my MeetNotes minutes? Yes. A notetaker recording spends minutes the same way a recording in the app does. Asking ChatGPT about meetings you already have is free.
Will the other people in the call see the notetaker? Yes. It joins as a visible participant called "MeetNotes Notetaker", so everyone knows the call is being recorded. It is still good manners to tell people at the start.
How many calls can I send it to at once? Up to 2 active notetaker bookings per account at a time. Sending the same link twice returns the booking you already have instead of making a new one.
