MoM Format in Word: 2 Free Minutes of Meeting Templates to Download

20 Oct 2026

Here is the MoM format in Word, free to download and edit: Simple MoM format (.docx) and MoM format with an action items table (.docx). No sign-up, no email needed. Both open in Microsoft Word, Google Docs and WPS Office on a phone or a computer. Each one has the parts a minutes of meeting (MoM) needs: meeting details, attendees, agenda, discussion, decisions, and action items with an owner and a target date. The same text is below if you'd rather copy and paste.

Not sure which one to pick? Use the simple format for team meetings, reviews and internal calls. Use the action items table when many tasks come out of one meeting, such as client meetings, project reviews or site meetings, and you want to track who does what.

Format 1: Simple MoM format

The Status column is what makes this format useful in the next meeting. Start by reading the table from the last MoM: mark each item Done, Open or Delayed before you move to new business.

How to fill in each part

  • Meeting details. Title, date, time and venue (or the call link). Six months later, this is how someone finds the right MoM.
  • Attendees and absentees. Full names, and the company or team when outsiders attend. Write "apologies" for people who told you they could not come.
  • Agenda. Copy it from the meeting invite. If the meeting wandered off the agenda, add the extra topic at the end.
  • Discussion. One or two lines per agenda item: what the main point was, not who said every sentence. A MoM is not a transcript.
  • Decisions. Each decision in one plain sentence: "The vendor quote of ₹2.4 lakh was approved." If nothing was decided on an item, write that too.
  • Action items. Three things every time: the task, one responsible person (a name, not "the team") and a target date. An action item with no owner usually never gets done.
  • Next meeting. Date and time, if one was fixed.

Write in the past tense and keep it short. One page is enough for most meetings. For the full guide with a filled-in example and an email to send it, see how to write MoM (minutes of meeting). If you were wondering what the letters stand for, see MoM full form and meaning.

Tips for the Word file

  • Save it as your own template. In Word: File → Save As → Word Template (.dotx). Every new MoM then starts from a clean copy.
  • Name the file well. For example "MoM - Client review - 20 Oct 2026.docx". Then a search finds it.
  • Send it the same day. Paste the decisions and action items into the email body too, as many people never open the attachment.
  • On a phone, the file opens in the Word app or Google Docs. Fill it in right after the meeting while you still remember.

Skip the typing: get the MoM from a recording

The hardest part of a MoM is not the format. It is writing notes while you are also supposed to take part in the meeting. With MeetNotes you put your phone on the table, press record, and when the meeting ends you get the minutes in this structure: summary, key points, decisions, and action items with owners and dates. Download it as a Word file to edit, or as a PDF, and share it on WhatsApp or email. It works for meetings in Hindi, English or a mix of both.

Every account starts with 100 free minutes. Read the MoM before you send it: it is written automatically, so check names, numbers and decisions.

FAQ

What should a minutes of meeting format include?
